At Home...
Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH)

IRHH helps to care for patients with life threatening illnesses in their own homes, as well as offer support to their carers. The service is offered across the Chilterns region and specialised nurses provide care 365 days a year on a 24 hour on-call basis.

The charity was founded in 1985 when five hospice-trained nurses helped care for local resident, Iain Rennie in his home. This enabled him to spend his last days where he felt safest and happiest in his own home, surrounded by family and friends. Today, IRHH supports both adults and children and allows people to spend their last days in their own home environment away from hospitals and hospices. This is very important to some people. In a recent survey, 70% of people claimed they would prefer to die at home.

The charity covers the Chilterns region across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire taking in the border towns of Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Hemel Hempstead and Thame. There are 700 volunteers attached to it giving 62,000 hours a year of their time and the charity has helped over 10,000 families in the region since its conception.

Via Petertide, we hope to fund the provision of a local nurse for the charity.

And Abroad...
The Nepali Children’s Trust

The Nepali Children’s Trust is working to provide much needed equipment, education and medical treatment for a new home for disabled children in Kathmandu, Nepal called the New Life Centre.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries on earth with 82% living on less that $2 a day. Most disabled children are rejected by society and their families and there is little hope for them. Many are killed at birth or thrown on streets by parents. Outside Katmandu there are no hospitals willing to treat children with disabilities

The New Life centre is urgently needed to initially support 30 disabled children who require medical and emotional help and education so they can enter mainstream society. The Nepali Children’s Trust is raising £250k to build a purpose built home for the children. The home has been opened but is far from being fully equipped.

Via Petertide we are specifically raising money to care and cure these children and funds are required to buy artificial limbs, pay for medical treatment, pay for a full time physiotherapist and provide further education.
